It has been four years but Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart is Yamagata's long overdue follow up to her stellar debut Happenstance [2004]. The singer-songwriter-pianist makes a strong comeback with this double disc set, which gives another dose of her sultry voice and complete layered ballads. Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart is an album that takes several spins to fully comprehend but it's strength simply comes from Yamagata's engaging vocals and her niche for getting the listener fully invested - Here is hoping we don't have to wait another four!
