Not many albums can stand up to the test or honor of being an essential college album but R.E.M.'s classic Murmur represents what others try to achieve. This deluxe edition not only remasters the bands 1983 debut full length record but adds a second disc that captures a complete R.E.M. show in Toronto on July 1983, shortly after the albums release. The remaster is enough reason to purchase this album but the complete live disc captures a special moment in time that showcases the band in full young energetic form along with an enthusiastic crowd. Let's hope the entire I.R.S. catalog eventually gets this treatment!
