Death Vessel: Nothing Is Precious Enough For Us

Death Vessel
Nothing Is Precious Enough For Us
Sub Pop Records [2008]

Fire Drills Review:
Death Vessel always will get lumped into the Neo-folk category mainly because leader Joel Thibodeau's vocals are sung in the an impossibly high and clear falsetto that just simply amazes the listener. Nothing Is Precious Enough For Us highlights his talent for making unusual arrangements and getting the best performance out of numerous friends and players that contribute to the album. Overall it feels like an album that captures a superb jam session of some talented locals jamming on the back porch but the melodies carry the record to the next level and make you take another listen just to absorb the material.

Key Track: "Fences Around Field"

Band With Similar Fire: Devendra Banhart
