The Avett Brothers: The Second Gleam [EP]

The Avett Brothers
The Second Gleam [EP]
Ramseur Records [2008]

Fire Drills Review:
I really feel that The Avett Brothers are on the brink to break out. The Second Gleam [EP] is their final release for Ramseur Records because they have signed with American Recordings and are currently working with Rick Rubin for their next record. Until then, The Second Gleam will keep you entertained and is completely solid, but clearly only lasting six songs you only get to see a small side of the brothers, but it is a good one as they cover the ups and downs of life in only the neo-folk way they know how. If you are new to the band this can be a starting point but make sure you seek out last years excellent Emotionalism [2007] to get the full spectrum of their talent!

Key Track: "Murder In The City"
