La La Land is an interesting release from Louisville's Wax Fang because the record feels very big in sound with soaring guitars and thunderous drums while still retaining an indie vibe. The record actually was available last year from the band but had its official release date this week. The group has built up a fanbase from superb opening slots for My Morning Jacket and Spoon and La La Land easily shows why Wax Fang has been compared to a mixed modern day Brian Eno, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie because the record is filled with larger opus glam-rockers and layered song structures, while contained with its indie vocals and lyrics that makes for a catchy listen and new experience worth checking out.
